REVERENCE – Gods Of War
2015 (Razar Ice Records) – Stil: Heavy Metal

Three years after their debut ‘When Darkness Calls` the all-star troupe RIOT vocalist Todd Michael Hall V supplies from their second album. It is known that exist REVERENCE alongside Todd from Bryan Holland (TOKYO BLADE, Git), Steve ‘Doc Kill Drums’ Wacholz (ex-SAVATAGE, CRIMSON GLORY, Dr), Pete Rossi (OVERLAND, Git) and Michael Massie (OVER LOADED, INNER RECIPE, Bass) , Technically a perfect number, was as already impressive to hear on the debut.

`Gods Of War` ultimately differs only slightly to its predecessor, ie, the band mixes US Power Metal with traditional hard rock values. `Angel In Black` reminiscent of PRIMAL FEAR / SINNER, while the crashing, very speedy` Battle Cry ‘most wonderful US power / speed metal provides and also on the last RIOT V plant would have fit. Todd sings unlike RIOT V. Sure, there are parallels, but he is clearly trying to address other concerns, which he manages even over long distances. The eleven songs are varied and differ markedly from each other, but without losing the thread. Although some of the pieces are banal kind, while others fully meet expectations. Songs like `Tear Down The Mountain`,` Blood Of Heroes` or `Choices Made` are nice in a way, but on the other hand just 08/15-pieces with no real meaning. Vocally top, which, although the guitars concerns as well, but the songs themselves are not very influential. On the positive side, however, stand as `Cleansed By Fire ‘,` Race To Obscene` or `Heart Of Gold`.

`Gods Of War` is a double-edged sword. On one side there is a little too much average songs with little long-term effect, which sadly due to the high-profile lineup. On the other hand there are songs that ignite immediately and actually prove that REVERENCE are on the right track. Bottom line, it is but so that no song really stuck so long, which means, in effect: REVERENCE can not keep the good 8 points from the first album.
