If you’re in for a dose of old-school metal in the vein of classic bands
like Accept and Judas Priest, then search no further and go for this
debut album from American band Reverence, founded in 2010 by
Todd Michael Hall (Jack Starr’s Burning Starr, vocals) and Bryan
Holland (Tokyo Blade, guitars). Their goal was to write and record a
true metal album and therefore they recruited powerhouse drummer
Steve Wacholz (Savatage, Crimson Glory), second guitarist Pete Rossi
and bassist Ned Meloni (Jack Starr’s Burning Starr, Funny Money).
Although I’m not that much into pure heavy metal anymore, I have
to admit that “When Darkness Calls” breathes quality from start to
finish. The songs are powerful and catchy and each band member
shows what he’s capable of, without being selfish. Variety is the key
word, so I can only add that the guys have accomplished their mission.
Headbangers, check this one out! (CL

Between this and Devils Train..my CD player in the car is getting

workout of classic Metal and Hard Rock riffs..as the other guys

said a very “Classic” Metal sounding album from start to finish!

Remind me of Judas Priest, Metal Church and Ryche all mixed in..

not one filler to me on this album one of the best of the year so far!!

And it’s finaly ALL American!!

Killer old school metal the way it should be…think classic Vicious

Rumors, Fifth Angel, Leatherwolf & Metal Church…blistering twin

guitar attack…massive grinding riffs…and a classic sounding metal

vocalist…the only thing these guys could possibly improve on is the

production…had it been a little fatter this would of been a 6.

Finally, a true blue American Metal Band that can match up with

the glorious days of the 80s. If you like Metal Church, Malice,

Leatherwolf, old Savatage and Fifth Angel, this is the band for you!

Doesn’t hurt with former members of TOKYO BLADE, SAVATAGE,

CRIMSON GLORY and JACK STARR’S BURNING STARR, either!

Soaring vocals, shredding guitar work and songs that actually

stick to yer gray matter….this is the real deal from real purveyors

of American Heavy Metal!

Sounds old school indeed and it sounds good, allthough not stunning.
