Hmmm… what can be my reaction when I see a brand new band formed with JACK STARR’S BURNING STARR, ex-SAVATAGE/ex-CRIMSON GLORY, ex-TOKYO BLADE members ? Curious ? Yeah and very excited too !!! Especially when the latest release by JACK STARR’S BURNING STARR (“Land Of The Dead”) is definitely one of my latest favorite albums (and I’ve no doubt it’ll remain one of my ALL-TIME favorite albums !) and that REVERENCE features nothing less than their amazing singer Todd Michael Hall and bassist Ned Meloni !
It didn’t take me too long before I got completely convinced this album is a MUST-HAVE for all true Heavy-Power metal lovers ! Every song on this record is brilliant, full of catchy powerful riffs, superb vocal lines, awesome guitar solos ! Most of them are up & mid-tempo and invite you to headbang ! This also includes a very beautiful (semi) ballad called “When The Leaves Have Fallen” full of emotions that only great talented musicians can compose ! The production is clear, powerful and not too modern, which makes the band keep an old-school approach.
I’d never recommend enough this “When Darkness Calls” to all fans od traditional hi-class heavy-power metal and especially if you’re into bans like Judas Priest, Crimson Glory and Jack Starr’s Burning Starr (of course !) !
