Reverence – When Darkness Calls (2012)

(Translated from German)

Another important event of heavy metal music in the 2012 R is undoubtedly debut Reverence power metal band that originates from the United States. The band was founded in 2010 on the initiative of guitarist Bryan Holland and vocalist Todd Micheal Hall. So you can safely say that this is a young team, but the musicians who make it a music legend heavy / power metal, and we have here exactly stellar cast, because Reverance consists of musicians bands like TOKYO BLADE, SAVATAGE,CRIMSON GLORY and JACK STARR’S BURNING STARR It is therefore easy to conclude that this is not a team experienced in battle. At the side of the label Razar Ice Records has released the debut “When Darkness Calls” and expectations were quite big and probably too high, because it would seem that such a composition is not known to create the work, and the music is actually played at a good / very good.Technical sphere and production release was carried out carefully and work hard here to point out an error, flaw. Also hard to fault the creators of the material, the musicians, because each of them does a really good job. The album consists of great vocal Hall, who has long been vocal in great shape, but there is no fire like the last album, BURNING STARR JACK STARR, we also have many interesting, especially sharp and feisty guitar parts where it is and dynamics , is the melody and all that, but they should be characterized, but the duo Holland / Rossi to require more than just play a good, very good level. I feel no satiety in this regard. Apparently this is what is needed, and there are melodies and sharp tone, but this is not the high level which matches their original bands.
What you’ll find on the album is music from the borderline previously mentioned bands, as well as companies such as JUDAS PRIEST, DIO, or PRIMAL FEAR QUEENSRYCHE. Apparently it is equally, like a melodious and no shortage of hits, but still I think I had too high expectations. Mix heavy / power metal is what dominates what governs the album and it’s great reflects “When Darkness Calls”. “Bleed For Me” is an example of that on the album are the hit songs that are passed in memory. In addition to the composition maintained at an average rate, we also have a fast, dashing, dynamic and crisp compositions that drive the album, heating temperature, and in such works should include “Phanthom Road”melodic “Gatekeeper”. Unfortunately, not very pleasant phenomenon is playing on one foot, playing on the same patents. “Too Late” has an interesting melodies, sharp solos, diverse rhythm section or maturing vocal memory, but such a play like this is full of musicians present on the market. Interestingly, this is one of the best tracks on the album. “The Price You Pay” certainly impressive weight and spooky and only here you can feel a wind of change, variety. Next cleverly falls “Monste r” with a distinctive bass line. Another very successful piece, moreover, hard to find a weak composition here and everything is good, very good. And tracks like “Vengeance IsMine” and “Revolution Rising” is the quintessential heavy / power metal songs also contain what has REVERENCE style.
Star cast, well-known names that fill the REVERENCE is only half the battle and this is the only guarantee of a decent level as the album. But never known musicians n ie ensure the great work. This time we got a mix of heavy / power metal on a very good level of sharp sound, strong riffs and great dynamics, where the songs were played with remarkable precision and attention to detail, but it’s all there so ordinary, lacking the element of surprise. Despite the disadvantages of music you listen to pleasant and it’s worth it to spend a bit of time.
